REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING
MONDAY January 20, 2020
IN ATTENDANCE: Chair Lyle Peterson, Supervisor Arvid Jenkins, Supervisor Steve Smith, Treasurer Deb Nelson, Clerk Jennifer Jenkins, and Deputy Clerk Brad Brown.
CALL TO ORDER: 7:03pm
RESIDENT INPUT: None
AGENDA: Supervisor Steve Smith made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Supervisor Arvid Jenkins, all in favor, motion carried.
MINUTES: December Minutes were not legible due to technical difficulties. Motion made by Chair Lyle Peterson to delay December Minutes approval until legible. Seconded by Supervisor Arvid Jenkins. All in favor, motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS: Keith Moody Plat and Towering Pines Plat – No resident in attendance – no decision made.
NEW BUSINESS: none.
PLANNING COMMISSION: Clerk Jennifer Jenkins will send an email to Isanti County regarding the Jeremy Walizer plat approval.
FIRE BOARD UPDATE: Supervisor Arvid Jenkins reports that Princeton Fire has Agreement done. District wide in 2018 Princeton had 364 calls, 2019 - 403 calls.
Isanti Fire: Supervisor Arvid reports they have 3 new hires left out of the original 7, 2 at Station 1 and 1 at Station 2. No movement from Oxford Township. Fire Chief Al is a co-secretary with Zack. Fire Code violations found at First State Tire. They will have 90 days to comply or their use permit will be revoked.
ROAD AND BRIDGE: Chair Lyle Peterson reports that snow, wind, and ice are problems this time of year. Tom Lundeen is working on brushing. On Llama Street, the resident will deal with the tree trimming. Wind drifts are a problem, Chair Lyle Peterson said that he sent out plows in the middle of the day on Saturday to Potassium and the North-South road 7 pm at night and Sunday the plows went out again at 7:30pm Sunday night (drifting in again). On 04 plow truck, Friday work was completed on wing vertical lift. Icy road complaints – sent Leland out and he did the work. The problem at Jarvis (dip in road on downhill side) will be addressed in the Spring. Sand and Salt purchasing a possible problem and Chair Lyle Peterson called Bradford Township, Isanti County, and Plaistads. Plow Truck 03 has transmission problems and concern was voiced that it might not pass DOT. Chair Lyle Peterson called Ziegler Cat and found that a used grader wing would run around $4200.00. Possible plans to retrofit Grader to plow roads and prolong purchase to replace 03 Plow Truck.
CLERK REPORT: Clerk Jennifer Jenkins reminded all that on 1/30 at 7pm, Township Officer’s Meeting in Cambridge, Deputy Clerk Brad Brown will be attending Clerk/Treasurer Class at MAT in St. Michael on 1/23. Election Judge classes will be in February and can be done online. Clerk Jennifer Jenkins stated that “The Board of Audit” will be held on 1/27 7pm, and that she would review documents on Wednesday 1/22.
TREASURER REPORT: Treasurer Deb Nelson reports the claims and balances. Treasurer Deb Nelson informed the Chair and Supervisors that a $25,000.00 CD is coming due on 3/23 and would like guidance on whether to reinvest it or possible truck purchase. Gopher bounty is $2252.00 for the year, claims for the month are $10,414.37. Motion made by Supervisor Arvid Jenkins to Approve the Treasurer’s Report and Pay Bills, seconded by Supervisor Steve Smith, all in favor motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT: Supervisor Arvid Jenkins made a motion to adjourn, which was 2nd by Supervisor Steve Smith. All in favor, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:07pm.
