REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING
MONDAY April 8th, 2019
IN ATTENDANCE: Chair Lyle Peterson, Supervisor Steve Smith, Supervisor Arvid Jenkins, Treasurer Deb Nelson, Clerk Jennifer Jenkins and Deputy Clerk Lisa Lynas
CALL TO ORDER: 7:00pm
RESIDENT INPUT: Dennis Kowalik states the road came through winter in pretty good shape, there is a person who lives in Wisconsin and takes his sled down the road to work his horses and chews up the road. Chair Lyle Peterson states when he sees him, he plan on speaking to him.
Princeton Mayor Brad Schummacher, and Princeton Fire Chief Ron Lawrence give a presentation and thanks the Spencer Brook Township Board for their support.
Greg Anderson Isanti County Commissioner gives a report from the County.
AGENDA: Supervisor Arvid Jenkins made a motion to approve the agenda with the reorganizational under new business. Supervisor Steve Smith made a 2nd. All in favor, motion carried.
Chair Lyle Peterson states there is a county wide officers meeting on April 25, 2019 at the government center that starts at 7pm.
MINUTES: Supervisor Arvid Jenkins made a motion to approve the March minutes with the correction of 90 days probation to 50 days probation under Fire, which was 2nd by Supervisor Steve Smith. All in favor, motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS: None.
NEW BUSINESS: Chair Lyle Peterson reads clean-up day price list from Evergreen’s. Discussion commenced. Supervisor Arvid Jenkins made a motion to have clean-up day May 4, 2019 from 8am to 12 noon, which Supervisor Steve Smith 2nds. All in favor, motion carried.
Supervisor Arvid Jenkins makes a motion to publish a clean-up day notice as an ad in the Town and Country and Scotsman for two weeks, which Supervisor Steve Smith 2nds. All in favor, motion carried.
Don Hanson gives a presentation of the preliminary plat Engren’s Place. Supervisor Steve Smith makes a motion to approve the preliminary Plat Engren’s Place, which was 2nd by Supervisor Arvid Jenkins. All in favor, motion carried.
PLANNING COMMISSION: Isanti County: none.
Spencer Brook Township Planning Commission is set to meet May 6, 2019 for their reorganizational meeting.
FIRE BOARD UPDATE: Princeton Fire District: Supervisor Arvid Jenkins reported there was one call in our Township last month, and regarding the capital replacement fund for new equipment, Wyanette Township responded no to it; the city prefers a unanimous decision.
Isanti Fire: Supervisor Arvid Jenkins reported there were two calls in our Township out of seventy-seven. Supervisor Arvid Jenkins concludes the new tech is onboarding this month. Supervisor Steve Smith states he is against contributing to the Princeton Fire Department capital replacement fund. Discussion commenced. Chair Lyle Peterson is undecided. The taping of the meeting cut off.
ROAD AND BRIDGE: Chair Lyle Peterson reports the grader will be out when the roads dry out. Plan road inspection for the May Regular Board Meeting. Chair Lyle Peterson makes a motion to put gravel bids in the Legal papers, which was 2nd by Supervisor Arvid Jenkins. All in favor, motion carried. Chair Lyle Peterson will call on the port a potty. Supervisor Steve Smith states there is a yearly training in May; at the county, 8am-4:30p.
CLERK REPORT: Clerk Jennifer Jenkins reports she had Supervisor Arvid Jenkins put some of the minutes on the website. Clerk Jennifer Jenkins asks if Supervisor Steve Smith will work clean-up day. Chair Lyle Peterson states we cannot afford a work comp claim. Supervisor Steve Smith states he will not lift anything heavy. Clerk Jennifer Jenkins reports Deputy Clerk Lisa Lynas has sold her house and is moving out of the Township. Chair Lyle Peterson states thanks for her service.
TREASURER REPORT: Supervisor Steve Smith asks about 1099 for Gopher Bounty. Supervisor Arvid Jenkins states you have to file 1099 with the Federal Government. Treasurer Deb Nelson will look into it. Treasurer Deb Nelson explains State Auditor emails regarding when the Township aid was deposited, how we sold the grader and their coding of airport expenditures. Treasurer Deb Nelson reports claims and balances. Supervisor Steve Smith makes a motion to approve claims with the exception of All Safe which he is going to call on and if valid he will mail and accept the Treasurer’s report, which was 2nd by Supervisor Arvid Jenkins. All in favor, motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT: Supervisor Arvid Jenkins made a motion to adjourn which was 2nd by Supervisor Steve Smith. All in favor, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 10:03pm.
